Work at your own pace with online learning. You can watch and rewatch as needed. The courses consist of video demonstrations and some pdfs. There are five courses to choose from below: four scripts and one with creative techniques.
Foundational Hand
This is a good hand for beginners to a broad edged pen as it focuses your attention on the relationships between the letter shapes. It is a good basis for further scripts.
Roman Capitals
These capital letters work on their own. They are also the best capitals to use with Foundational Hand.
Italic
This is an elegant script which encourages flow and rhythm in writing. It’s a staple of a calligrapher’s repertoire.
Modern Script
This is a pointed pen script which is loosely based on italic and Copperplate scripts. You will be shown basic letterforms and then ideas on how to adapt and personalise to your taste as well as ideas for using the script.
Creative Techniques with Parallel Pens and Calligraphy Markers
In this course we look at the potential of parallel pens and zig calligraphy markers. The pros and cons are discussed along with some creative ideas.
